Sue & I are both 50 this year.
So we decided to have a good trip !
Everything was prebooked on the internet.

I have added a few pictures into the text , but if you want to skip the text just go to the pictures link @ the bottom of this story .

Flying with Virgin Atlantic , the flight was 10 & a half hours !
Starting @ Las Vegas @ the Excalibur Hotel.

We stayed there for 3 nights, Weds, Thurs & Friday, taking in the sights & Casinos ....everything was open 24hours & was a real eye opener.

On the Saturday morning we picked up our pre booked a car for 3 days.
A Chevrolet Aveo LT
Automatic !

After collecting the car we set off for the Grand Canyon....roughly 300 miles away.
We visited the Hoover Dam

Then we joined Route 66 & stopped off in the small roadside town of Seligman.
Stopped for a burger & checked out a few shops.

We met a team of Shelby's that had been at the 50th Anniversary show.
On the way out of the town ,

I noticed a pair of Cubs on the front lawn of a shop selling bits & bobs.
A C55 & a CT90, tastefully rebuilt, the chap who owned them wasnt there as I was interested what price they where ?

Filled up with petrol, after hearing that it had gone up so much recently over there.
We calculated , taking into account that the US gallon is smaller than ours that a UK gallon was approx £2.50 a GALLON !!!!
Got to the Canyon , booked into the hotel, visited the Canyon , amongst people saying that snow was on its way ....

We woke up to about 6" of snow, we had to dig the car out.

The main road off the mountain had been snow ploughed & was basically a single line road.
We carefully drove down & hit the I 40 again , that we had thought was closed , due to the reports on the TV.
It was bad in patches but we were soon into blue skies once more.
The Sunday night we were staying at the Collorado River.
Collorado Belle was a hotel on the river.

Buffet for dinner that night approx, $9 each.

Breakfast @ Earls Castle on Monday morning & had a pretty good breakfast, the waitress asked how I liked my eggs ??? sunny side up ....etc, & I answered " Normal" ?

Set off for an old mining town called Searchlight.....
Got there & it was on a cross roads.
Looked quite uninteresting , & the "trading post" we wanted to visit had closed down.
So we carried on & then head for Mining town Nelson.
This was an abandoned town, in a valley.
Gold & Silver found here in 1860 & in 1861 the town was built.

As soon as we got there , we both said that everyone on the board would love it there.

I was mooching about & under a bush found THIS.....
DSCF6104.jpg

Its a CT90 trial main front engine bar, I tried & tried but couldnt find the rest of it !
There were loads of old vehicles scattered all over.

Got back to Vegas , dropped the car off & then stayed @ the Golden Nugget in Fremont street in the Downtown region.

Great break.
Needed the few days in the middle away from the bright lights....

All in all , it wasnt too expensive & apart from the snow was great weather.

Best wishes
Fuzz & Sue <3
