running too lean will hole a piston if your not careful,

mixture isnt just about the main jet,if its rich, maybe the needle needs to be lowered too, and perhaps the mixture screw needs a tweek, the main jet is only really used at 80% throttle, although it has some bearing in relation to the needle also
