Hello All. There's a mew cub owner on tuther board called piemuncher, I'd like to chip in with some advice but am having difficulty is getting on to the other site. I've given up trying so could someone do him a quick post to point him at this post.
Hi. Piemuncher. Congratulations on your new purchase. We in Wigan are noted for our pie eating habits. Are you local. ? If you are new to C90's and are about to start commuting then here are some tips related to your posts on the other board. Tyre levers. Don't buy the ones from poundland. They are the wrong shape on the end and impossible to use. Keep an eye out at car boots for some proper vintage ones. They are very easy to use. As well as a spare tube carry some instant patches from the cycle shop. Its very easy to nip the new tube as you are putting it in...(Q Fuzz).. and if you do you are knackered again. If you've got grease nipples on the front forks then keep an eye out for a small grease gun at the car boot. You asked about cavities in the frame worth treating.. I would spend one rainy sunday taking the petrol tank out plus the battery and its carrier and taking off the plastic rear mudguard. Looking into the frame where the fuel tank was treat any light rust in the seams with rust resolver using cheap artists brushes from the pound shop. Then empty an aerosol of waxoyl over the internals and especially backwards into the frame cavity. B&Q sell clear plastic pipe to make a new fuel pipe up and put a cheap inline filter in while you are doing it. Get the round type of filter as the clear square ones are prone to leaking. If you are commuting through the winter then I would buy a tub of grease and either warm it up or mix a little bit of oil in till its just possible to paint this on everywhere...frame . forks wheel rims (don't put too much on here as some of it will get flung. Probably better to use neat cold grease on the rims. Put a halogen headlight bulb from mildhogs spares. Conti Go's are the best tyres when yours wear out. Regards. Bob.
