Alan, I'm truly sorry to hear of the sad loss of your dear and close friend due to a tragic road crash. As you may know, my job involves dealing with the consequences of fatal and serious road crashes on an almost daily basis and whilst in the main I am able to detach myself from the horror that I see some really do hit home more than others, indeed some have involved people I know. For instance, motorcycle crashes, it makes me question just why I ride one myself. However, more of my coleagues in the department ride motorcycles than there are those that don't, so that always says something to me in itself.
