I've done them so that in the future if I sell the bike, I can take the box off (with indicators inc) and refit the original indicators.
What id did was to extend the wires from the indicator holes, via the appropriate snap connectors, out and up over the tail piece of plastic. I 'shrink tubed' it and stuck it down with double sided sticky tape.

When the wires reached as far as the box they came out of the tubing and up into the box. More snap connectors on these ends of the wires which connect to those on the new indicators. I ran most of the wire inside the box, (from the seat side to the visual side) as I have a piece of carpet in there that not only protects them but stops things (cargo) rattling around in there. There's only a small bit of wire peeping out from under the carpet up to the indicators. I could tape them to the box but they've never been interfered with when the box is loaded.
