Hi fellow bikers, just a few words about the many pitfalls of buying a complete basket case bike.

I paid £60 for a 1993 Yamaha 89cc shaft drive four speed, four stroke that was a wreck back in September 2012.

By 18th December I had removed, stripped out and repaired rear wheel drive shaft, replaced old rim with a new rim also spokes, fitted a new inner also tyre, striped down to bare metal then resprayed in a nice deep blue the rear end of the bike up to the engine hanger.
Removed saddle, also shocks awaiting pair of new ones from Sue, also spent about 200 hours to get this far.
The exhaust was very problematic having had to cancel two orders on internet from advertiser who could not deliver there advertised replacement for £59 no stock left in UK ? Today I jiged up the old rusty one, welded on two new bolt heads, striped away the rust retreated then finished off with four coats of high temperature silver, only where rusty it will have to do, oh yes replaced the restored fuel tank, about one week from starting her up for the first time
That's about it been lots of fun but the 6 volt system is a bloody nightmare.
Have a good happy exmas readers.
Stan the mad bike restoration man aged 75. ps this is my 56th restoration.
