Footpeg mountings

Having run out of gas for the welder, I decided to do a job on the engine. Poor old Sykes came to me with the bent footpegs barely hanging on with three assorted loose bolts.

On removing them I found that three of the holes had the threads ripped out.

Fortunately there was still about 5mm of good thread left in the bottoms of the holes, so I used a method I have successfully used before. Thoroughly degrease the hioles and poor a little stud lock in. Apply thread lock to the threads of some long stainless steel bolts and screw them in until they bottom out. Wait 24 hours and then cut the bolts off to the required length. Rememebr to use zinc plated nyloc nuts, if you use stainless steel nuts on stainless studs they can occasionally lock together (called galling).
