PeterR - Like most, I use an aerosol, but yes, have felt a bit guilty all these years not doing the boiling oil Linklyfe routine. Will have to consider it now.

Fuzz - 80% of the Cub's life is spent darting in and out of traffic-jammed city centres. For which I find it the perfect tool. 9 times out of 10 I can get a good gear change, by taking the time to hold-down before releasing, but it's no better than that (9 out of 10) and even on the odd rare occasion, unintentionally and entirely due to my own fault, unbidden, the front wheel starts to rise. On those wheelie occasions I can only turn to other motorists with a look of: "Yeah, of course I meant to do that!"

And often, with the numerous traffic lights starting to change just as I pull up, the tendency is to click and stab to get a rapid getaway. When I get the gear change wrong and it jolts forward, by way of apology to the Cub, I can only wince like I had a bad case of serious toothache. Ooooh!

All-in-all it's got to have taken it's toll on the chain life. I'm not that keen on the Cub's semi-automatic gear change. If only they'd made them with a manual clutch lever - and a Townmate-like shaft drive.
