Yes, I have posted it over there and been in contact with DaveBike (bike mechanic for those who don't know). I am gathering ideas as to what could be the problem with the bike. It's all waiting on my son now. Yesterday I told him (with written instructions as to how) to check the oil level so people could hazard a more educated guess as to the problem. I'm hoping that if it has got oil in it then it's not a full engine seizure and may be able to be fixed within an acceptable budget.
But the bike is not at his home. The AA sent out a van that was useless for transporting a bike so it's chained up some where at the side of the road. As they weren't able to bring him and the bike home he has the option to call them out again (for the same call) to transport the bike where he wants it. So, it's either back home or to a shop depending on which way this 'remote, long distance (without seeing it) diagnosis' goes.
